Courtesy to UNMISS The 160-kilometre journey from the capital of South Sudan to the town of Yei in the south-west of the country should take no more than a couple of hours. But war and weather have damaged the main route from Juba so badly that it has been largely impassable for months. It is not just the roads that have been washed away in the torrential downpours during the rainy season, but also important infrastructure making it impossible for motorists, including traders, to travel safely. Many of those attempting the journey have ended up stranded for days at a time, creating further blockages with their vehicles and putting their lives at risk with a spate of armed robberies along the road in recent months. The body of American journalist Christopher Allen has been brought to the South Sudanese capital, Juba. He was killed in heavy fighting in the town of Kaya in Yei River State at the weekend. Allen is believed to have been embedded with opposition forces for about a week. But the government says he wasn't accredited, and shouldn't have been in the area. At least 19 people -- including soldiers -- died in the clashes between opposition forces and government troops. Authorities in Juba are waiting for the journalist's family to collect his remains. For those in the juba scene, here is a video with descriptions and lots of them. The Juba dance was a series of animated and high-kicking dance moves by Africans enslaved on plantations in the American South, so some of the dance steps of Mandiani (West African dance) are used here. Juba referred to making music with your body, such as clapping, patting your hip, thigh, chest, etc. Juba also referred to the undesirable slop and the accompanying song speaks out against the food conditions.

The land in Yambio is lush, rich in colour, and fertile – the perfect place to grow crops and raise farm animals. Located in the Western Equatorias region of South Sudan. Yambio is just 20 kilometres from the Democratic Republic of Congo, which should make it easy to transport and trade those crops across the border. But the civil war that erupted in 2013 has, not only, inflicted physical pain and suffering on the people of this country but has also devastated the economy, particularly the ability of farmers to grow, harvest, and sell crops. The stallholders at the Yambio market say the security situation has improved. There is still some looting and violence but it tends to be isolated incidents. The main challenge now is the economic crisis. Many in the local community do not have jo...

A commercial plane on Monday made a crash landing in poor weather at an airport in South Sudan, causing several injuries among the 43 on board. "It is miraculous, completely," said Ateny Wek Ateny, the South Sudanese presidential spokesperson. "There are only minor injuries. There was no single death." The incident took place at the airport in Wau, in the nation's northwest. Ateny said the pilot overshot the runway, dropping onto an unpaved ground. While some places are on this list due to armed conflicts and violence, other places are on the list thanks to physical or biological calamities. Regardless of the reasons, the one thing all of these places have in common is that most western governments do not advise travel to them unless it is absolutely necessary. These are the 25 most dangerous places to visit as a tourist. Also, before we continue, just remember, being on this list doesn't necessarily mean the entire country is bad to visit (although it can). Just make sure to check on regional travel warnings.
